Who is the human being in the technologized age?
What is his role and that of the machines that surround him? Questions that were also asked 100 years ago at the Bauhaus ere. The Totale Tanz Theater deals with these questions today against the background of the development of artificial intelligence in the form of a virtual reality dance performance.
Using VR glasses, visitors are immersed in a huge, virtual stage construction and run through a dance choreography on three levels with a dance machine that they activate. In the process, they are accompanied by the question of their real ability to influence space and the machine. The interlocking of man-made choreography, personal intervention, and machine algorithms results in new forms of movement and dance in space.
The installation by the Interactive Media Foundation and Filmtank was developed in collaboration with Artificial Rome on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus.
THE TOTAL DANCE THEATER is a spectacular part of the BRILL SAISON. From October 16 – 28, 2021, the former Sparkassenhalle am Brill in Bremen will temporarily become a presentation and work venue for extraordinary events. 50 years of the University of Bremen and the Action Program Downtown will provide the framework for film premieres, discussion events and the installation.
