ADRIENN HÓD / HODWORKS (HU)
GRACE
2017
Intellectual and unrestrained – both at the same time. Színház
They wander from topic to topic: four gaudy revue girls (& boys) telling their personal stories with synchronous voices. They were all searching for the deceased grandfather’s lost golden ring just a moment ago – and have now arrived in the capital of Europe, the Euro. With robust humour, the well-trained performers deconstruct the movement of society, from ‘justice’ to ‘helicopter parents’. Behind our clichés they discover extreme bodily states in GRACE, until the music makes them ecstatic and their muscles shine golden in an acrobatically exciting dance. With underhand humour, they finally seduce their audience to enter a zone in which presence is more important than meaning.
As an innovative voice in Hungary, Adrienn Hód in 2007 founded the group Hodworks for proactive artists bringing along their own methods. Her trademark: The human body – without media, without a stage set. In the European network Aerowaves, their most recent works ranked among the 20 outstanding contemporary productions.
