EINS ZU EINS
2017
When the 32-year-old actor Walter Schmuck encounters 11-year-old Mika Nowotny, not only do different notions of masculinity, horizons of experience and development stages collide – their movements influenced by everyday life, their surroundings and their personalities are also distinct. Yet what is revealed in their mutual explorations of longings and attitudes in Eins zu Eins are fundamental questions: What age does our body tell of? And is this story true? What is really childlike, what adult, and what are simply attributions? An exploration in dance of two forms of movement separated by 21 years, 2 months and 38 centimetres.
Birgit Freitag works as a freelance choreographer in contemporary contexts. Since 2009 she has been creating solos and duets for citizens of Bremen – in an innovative artistic genre between movement portrayal and biographic fiction. She produces choreographies for, among others, the Theater an der Parkaue Berlin and the Staatstheater Saarbrücken.
