A dance laboratory
in public space

With Synergy, the dance department of Theater Bremen and its company Unusual Symptoms created a format in 2019 that brought together contemporary and urban dancers in a playful, interdisciplinary battle format. In Pandemic Summer 2021, the battle will become a public Artist Lab.

Performers from the local urban scene will come together with the dancers from Unusual Symptoms and artists from various disciplines to exchange ideas and work together. Where does urban art stand today? How have cities changed in which this art is created? The Lab enables the participants to take a look at their own city and their work in it through external impulses and to develop new artistic ideas together in this space. Goetheplatz becomes a public space for encounters. Passers-by and interested people can watch techniques being tried out, themes being exchanged and choreographies being created. On 3 July, the Synergy Lab will conclude with a public presentation. The lab is led by urban dancer, choreographer and curator Raphael Moussa Hillebrand.
