Dance on the
city's facades
Proximity, dance and community come alive by XXL projections in urban spaces. The DIGITAL DIALOGUES offer the audience completely new visual experiences: Larger-than-life couples dance via projection on selected facades of the city.
The artists build five tandems of Bremen-based dancers with five dancers from all over the world (Burkina Faso, South Korea, Brazil, Canada and Bangladesh). The five couples entered a dance-dialogue in advance via video chat; together, they worked out their individual forms of expression, all the while seperated by physical distance. They recorded the process with a camera, laptop or smartphone. The alternation of juxtaposition and togetherness becomes an artistic statement in times of the all-determining Corona-conditioned restrictions.
The resulting material was edited into a 30-minute film by URBANSCREEN, which will be shown with powerful projectors on several facades in Bremen’s urban space. The project team is particularly interested in showing the film in places outside the city centre and making dance accessible to all Bremen residents. The projections on various building facades in the city give the dance dialogues ever new impressions – Bremen’s buildings themselves becoming stages.
The internationally renowned artists’ collective URBANSCREEN from Bremen uses dance as a universal language and shows how proximity can be created with digital means. The result: five inspiring performances on different vertical stages – body language XXL as a community experience in the Bremen city area.
